Jan 15, 2017 Guatemala - Colonial Antigua

Jan 15 Guatemala - Colonial Antigua former capital of Guatemala until it was destroyed 3 times by earthquakes.  Then they moved the the capital to a less volatile place.

Docking port.

One of Guatemala's active volcanoes.

Road to Antigua was good, vegetation was very dry.

Obligatory license plate.

Main mode of transportation in Guatemala - the "Chicken Bus".  Look it up folks!

The official taxi of the city of Antigua.

Antigua Cathedral

Bridge used by young women to cross from the convent of the cathedral to see they loved ones.

Random architecture.  Most of the buildings show evidence of the many earthquakes that have happened in the city.

Church in the main square.

Typical church in Antigua.  The whole city is paved with cobblestone.

Great advertising posters for Guatemala.
