Feb 5 2017 Rangiroa, Tuamotu Islands, French Polynesia

Where we are.

Going through gap in atoll into the lagoon - part of the Tuamotu Islands which are in the centre of Tahiti's marine territory. Largest atoll of French Polynesia and second largest in the world.  75 km long and 25 km wide.

Welcoming committee at the pier.

Local performer

Was able to go snorkeling.  Saw 4 rather large black fin sharks, 4 rather large eels, 2 beautiful purple jellyfish and an amazing abundance of fish.  Need to get an underwater camera!

Obligatory license plate.  Thought the truck was cool so I included it.

Moana-uri "Wild Ocean"

And solar road lights.

Couple of friends I picked up.
First kilometer marker outside of town.
Reminds me of dandelions at home.

Even French Polynesia has recycling.
Heading home.

Another beautiful sunset at sea.
